Who we are?
Vision
Conservation of biodiversity of Sri Lanka
.
Mission
To stand for the conservation of biodiversity endangered by nature unfriendly economic development activities and destructive human behaviour.
About Us
Our Background
A voluntary, non-profit association of wildlife and nature enthusiasts and activists operating in Sri Lanka who have established themselves as Lanka Nature Conservationists (LNC).
LNC is an association of past members of the Young Zoologists Association of Sri Lanka (YZA)) who have re-grouped for the purpose of providing support for the protection of fauna, flora and the natural ecosystems in Sri Lanka.
LNC was established in late 2015 in response to the growing need to conserve Sri Lanka’s natural environment. The seed of the LNC was planted by a few past YZA members who belonged to the first decade of the YZA. They have a long history of involvement with our zoological gardens since 1970s. Drawn from academia, public service and private sector, this group has experience in wildlife conservation as professionals and also as environmentalists.

How Do We Work?
- Participate and offer guidance on policy matters at local and national level programmes that affect the conservation of the natural environment and wildlife of Sri Lanka
- To coordinate and actively engage with state institutions and officials on proposals for rehabilitation and adoption of modern approaches for effective management of the National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka.
- To support the raising of awareness and education amongst the different types of stakeholders on the urgent need to protect Sri Lanka’s natural environment.
- Involve in issues related to conservation of biodiversity. LNC do play a guiding or pilot role at selected critical Bio Diversity threatening issues of the Country. As a recognized conservation society, we do gather correct and accurate information, filter and analyse them; then guide and inform relevant organizations for appropriate actions.
